Malpe: A distressing incident has been reported from the coastal town of Malpe, where a 26-year-old fisherman went missing after accidentally falling into the Arabian Sea during a deep-sea fishing expedition. The missing individual has been identified as Shankaragouda Shivappa Adoor, a resident of Kurubara Oni in Samshi village. He had been employed as a crew member on a local commercial fishing boat named ‘Jai Santoshi Mata’, operating out of the Malpe fisheries port.
The mishap occurred while the crew was actively engaged in hauling the fishing nets out of the water. According to eyewitness accounts, a massive sea wave suddenly hit the vessel, causing the boat to violently lurch sideways. Due to the sudden impact, Shankaragouda lost his balance, slipped, and plunged into the deep waters. Despite immediate efforts by fellow fishermen to spot him, he was swept away by the strong marine currents and went missing in the sea.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged by the boat operators at the Malpe police station. The local marine police, along with coastal security personnel, have initiated a search and rescue operation in the area to locate the missing youth.
