Mangaluru: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with immense fervor and patriotism at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru, organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration. District In-charge Minister U.T. Khader unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade from an open vehicle, accepting the ceremonial guard of honor.
Delivering the Independence Day address, Minister Khader remembered the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence. He emphasized that every citizen plays a crucial role in preserving the country’s unity, communal harmony, and rich cultural heritage. Urging the youth to imbibe patriotic values to help build a stronger India, he highlighted that lakhs of families in Dakshina Kannada district have benefited from the government’s five guarantee schemes. He also commended the significant progress made in the district across health, education, infrastructure, and disaster management sectors.
Appreciating the district’s academic accomplishments, Minister Khader congratulated students, teachers, and parents for securing the first position in the state SSLC exams and the second position in the 2nd PUC exams. He concluded his speech with the slogan ‘Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka,’ calling upon citizens to work together in unity to elevate the nation to greater heights. Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Members of Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza and S.L. Bhojegowda, Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V., alongside elected representatives, heads of boards/corporations, and senior officials were present during the occasion.
