Mangaluru : The Bajpe police have arrested two individuals involved in an interstate drug trafficking racket. The accused were caught while attempting to sell Ganja (cannabis) in Mangaluru, which they had allegedly transported all the way from Bihar by train. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sunil Kumar (40), a resident of Khagaria, Bihar, and Brijesh Srivastava (42) from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.
The arrest took place on January 3 near Shantigudde Cross on the roadside within the Bajpe police station limits. Acting on credible information, the police conducted a raid and seized approximately 1 kg of Ganja from the possession of the duo, who were currently residing in Krishnapura, Katipalla. During interrogation, the accused confessed to purchasing the narcotics in Bihar and smuggling them via train to sell specifically to North Indian migrant laborers in Mangaluru.
The Bajpe police have registered a case under Crime No. 08-2026 under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(a) of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. A detailed investigation is currently underway to identify further links in this supply chain.
