Mangaluru : In a significant move towards safeguarding the health of frontline emergency responders, SCS Hospital successfully conducted a comprehensive preventive health screening camp at the Fire Safety Office in Pandeshwar, Mangaluru. Specially designed for Fire Safety Officers and personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare, enable early disease detection, and support the overall well-being of these dedicated professionals.
The health camp commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by District Fire Officer Mahmed Zulfikar Nawaz. The inaugural ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries from SCS Hospital, including Medical Superintendent Ms. Shalini S. Rao and General Manager Mr. Raghavendra Singh, who emphasized the institution’s dedication to community health.
Hospital representatives highlighted that the primary objective of this initiative was to provide regular health assessments to identify potential health risks at an early stage. Given the demanding nature of emergency services, timely medical evaluation and early diagnosis play a crucial role in improving health outcomes, ensuring that personnel remain physically fit and capable of executing their duties effectively.
Participants at the camp received a wide range of essential medical assessments and professional consultations. The services included general health check-ups, blood sugar screening, blood pressure monitoring, vital signs assessment, and Body Mass Index (BMI) evaluation. For deeper clinical assessment, Electrocardiogram (ECG) screenings were conducted, alongside specialized physiotherapy consultations to address mobility, musculoskeletal health, and occupational strain. Additionally, personalized diet and nutrition counseling were provided to encourage long-term healthy lifestyle choices.
The camp witnessed an enthusiastic response, with a large number of Fire Safety Officers and SDRF personnel turning up for the check-ups. The expert medical team from SCS Hospital successfully screened the participants, identifying specific health concerns that require further clinical evaluation and follow-up care. This successful camp further strengthens the bond between SCS Hospital and the Fire & Emergency Services Department, reinforcing the hospital’s position as a trusted healthcare partner for the region’s emergency responders.
