Udupi : Following a barrage of complaints from the general public regarding mismanagement and absolute apathy in the administrative functioning of the Brahmavar Taluk Tehsildar office, officials from the Lokayukta anti-corruption watchdog conducted a surprise raid on the government facility on Monday.
Acting on specific grievances registered by citizens, the enforcement team secured a formal search warrant from the head office of the Honorable Lokayukta in Bengaluru before swooping down on the Taluk Saudha. The investigating team systematically scrutinized critical files across various administrative departments of the revenue office. During the operation, they identified and seized a significant number of applications that were intentionally kept pending for a long time, alongside highly suspicious documents that were allegedly processed in direct violation of established government protocols. The department staff and concerned revenue officials were subjected to intense questioning to provide justification for these procedural anomalies.
The atmosphere turned tense inside the government complex when several department clerks and officials failed to offer satisfactory explanations or valid reasons for the delayed and irregular handling of essential paperwork, prompting the Lokayukta officials to strongly reprimand them on the spot. The anti-corruption unit confirmed that a comprehensive investigation report detailing the administrative lapses, official negligence, and irregular file disposals is being compiled and will be submitted promptly to the higher authorities of the Lokayukta for stringent disciplinary action.
The high-profile crackdown was executed under the direct guidance of Mangaluru Lokayukta Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar and was spearheaded on the ground by Udupi Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) Halamurthi Rao. The raid squad also comprised Police Inspectors Manjunath, Rajendra Naik, and Mangaluru Lokayukta Inspector Bharati, along with a dedicated team of personnel drawn from both the Udupi and Mangaluru Lokayukta branches
