Mangaluru : A special team from the Mangaluru South Police Station successfully dismantled a major vehicle theft gang involved in stealing two-wheelers across various parts of the city. As part of the operation, law enforcement authorities took seven individuals into custody, including four adult suspects and three juveniles involved in conflict with the law.
The arrested adult suspects have been identified as Mahammad Siam (19) from Vamanjoor, Muhammad Naseef alias Naseef (19) from Baikampady, Mohammad Raheel (18) from Vamanjoor, and Nikhil (18) from Kuttipalke. During the raid, officers seized nine two-wheelers, comprising six stolen motorbikes and three used to commit the offenses, with a total estimated value of Rs 4.50 lakh.
The gang was primarily active within the jurisdiction of Mangaluru South and Ullal police stations. Their targeted thefts included KTM Duke, Yamaha FZ, and Bajaj Discover bikes from locations such as Valencia Junction, Jeppu Market, Attavar KMC Hospital, and Hoige Bazaar in South Mangaluru, alongside a Royal Enfield Bullet and Yamaha FZ from Deralakatte Yenepoya Hospital and Kuttar Pandit House in the Ullal region.
Interrogations revealed that the accused targeted high-end luxury bikes to sell them at throwaway prices, using the proceeds to fund an extravagant lifestyle and carry out chain-snatching crimes. The four adult suspects have been remanded to judicial custody, while investigation team members led by Inspector Raghavendra Byndoor and SI Maruti were commended by the City Police Commissioner for their swift action.
