Mangaluru : In a significant security lapse at the Mangaluru District Prison located in Kodialbail, two under-trial prisoners were caught illegally possessing a smartphone inside their cell. Following the unexpected discovery, an official complaint has been registered against the erring inmates at the Barke police station for violating prison security protocols.
The incident came to light during a surprise night raid conducted by Prison Superintendent Sharanabasappa and his security staff on July 7 at around 10:35 PM. While inspecting Cell No. 3 in the ‘A’ Block of the correctional facility, the team caught under-trial prisoners Ajjal and Itbal with an Android mobile phone in their possession. The device was immediately confiscated by the authorities for further investigation.
