Milagres College Marks Inauguration of Student Council, Add-on Courses and Associations

Mangaluru : The inauguration ceremony of the Student Council, various student associations, and add-on courses of Milagres College, Mangaluru, was held on Monday, 3 August 2026, in the college auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Najma Farooqi, KSPS, ACP, Mangaluru City Traffic Subdivision.

Speaking on the occasion, ACP Najma Farooqi said that students should not limit themselves to academic achievements alone but should also develop leadership qualities, discipline, social responsibility, and a well-rounded personality. She stated that active participation in the Student Council and various student associations helps enhance organizational skills, self-confidence, and a spirit of service. She also emphasized that young people should responsibly fulfil their social obligations.

Presiding over the function, Rev. Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues, Correspondent of the Milagres Educational Institutions, said that student organizations, associations, and add-on courses play a vital role in the holistic development of students. He noted that by combining the regular curriculum with skill-based education, students can better prepare themselves for future career opportunities.

The Principal of the College and Campus Director, Rev. Dr. Alwin Serrao, administered the oath to the students.

Among those present at the programme were Mr. Dixsun Dsouza, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mr. Melvin Vas, Principal of Milagres Pre-University College; Rev. Fr. Udaya Fernandes, Principal of Milagres Central School; Mrs. Chethana K., IQAC Coordinator; Lt. Denzil Edrod Pinto, Student Welfare Officer; Mrs. Harsha, Add-on Course Coordinator; Ms. Manjusha, Association Coordinator; resource persons for the add-on courses; teaching and non-teaching staff; and students.

Student President Viol Renvil Monteiro welcomed the gathering. Secretary Fathima Farhana delivered the vote of thanks, and Princel II FND compered the programme.
