Mangaluru : Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Ivan D’Souza has urged the Karnataka state government to declare a formal government holiday on September 8 for ‘Tene Habba’ (Monti Fest), a prominent festival celebrated by the coastal Christian community.
Raising the issue through the Council Chairman during Zero Hour on Monday, the MLC drew the attention of the Chief Minister to the cultural and religious significance of the day. He appealed for the declaration of an official holiday across the region to enable community members to participate in the festivities and traditional observances smoothly.
