Mangaluru : A preparatory meeting of Congress party ward and block presidents was convened recently to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program for the voter’s list. Addressing the gathering, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Ivan D’Souza emphasized the importance of the upcoming three-month SIR initiative. He urged citizens to properly fill out the Enumeration Forms provided by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), attach the necessary documents, sign them, and return them promptly. He called upon Congress party workers to conduct door-to-door awareness campaigns to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the electoral rolls.
During the meeting, Ivan D’Souza strongly condemned the BJP government, accusing it of politically manipulating the SIR process to systematically keep legitimate voters out of the electoral list. He claimed that attempts are being made to infringe upon voting rights by exerting undue pressure on both the public and election officials. To counter this, he stressed the urgent need for widespread public awareness regarding the Election Commission’s guidelines and urged party workers to strive hard so that every eligible citizen’s name is retained.
Adding to the discussion, former Mangaluru Mayor Shashidhar Hegde suggested executing the door-to-door outreach strategy with high efficiency to maximize community impact. Block Congress President Prakash B. Salian also spoke, cautioning party workers to remain vigilant in every ward so that no voter is left behind. The preparatory meet saw the participation of several Congress leaders and key members, including Ashok D.K., Naveen D’Souza, Nagendra Kumar (Jeppinamogaru), Chethan Kumar, Stany (Shaktinagar), Welwin Castelino, Prithvi Salian, James Pravin, Karnakar (Mannagudda), Yogish (Bolur), Uday Achar, and Ritesh Anchan.
