Mangaluru : In a major push to the economic and industrial landscape of Dakshina Kannada, Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta, accompanied by Mangaluru City North MLA Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, paid an on-site visit to inspect the ongoing construction at the ambitious Ganjimath Plastic Park. During the inspection, the MP closely reviewed the development of essential infrastructure, including internal roads, electricity networks, and water supply systems. Holding a strategic meeting with the officials of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Capt. Chowta issued strict directives to resolve all pending tasks within a designated timeframe and to streamline preparations for commencing full-fledged commercial operations soon.
Spanning over a vast 104 acres, this mega industrial project was initially sanctioned during the tenure of the late Union Minister Ananth Kumar. However, it faced prolonged delays due to a legal dispute surrounding the acquisition of a 9.33-acre land parcel. Upon taking charge as the MP, Capt. Brijesh Chowta prioritized the stagnant project and instructed the KIADB Chief Engineer to bypass the disputed land temporarily, formulating a revised execution plan using the readily available terrain. Following his intervention, the revised blueprint for the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) administrative building secured official approval in November 2024, effectively reviving the construction phase.
The project cleared its major legal hurdles in October 2025 when a writ appeal was dismissed by the court, paving the way for uninterrupted development. Momentum picked up further when the government officially approved the revised design layout of the park in March 2026. This was immediately followed by a KIADB notification in April 2026, inviting entrepreneurs to apply for industrial plot allotments. Currently, the construction of the CIPET administrative facility is nearing its final stages of completion, signalling a positive shift in the timeline of the project.
Reflecting on the vision behind the park, MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta emphasized that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the facility will serve as a cornerstone for elevating the coastal region’s industrial sector to global standards. He noted that the park will generate substantial employment opportunities for local youth while incorporating eco-friendly regulations and cutting-edge technology. Highlighting the rapid pace of current developments, the MP reached out to aspiring entrepreneurs, encouraging them to step forward, utilize the available industrial plots, and contribute actively to the broader development of the district.
