New Link : In response to nationwide student protests over paper leaks in the NEET examinations, the Union Government has initiated a major overhaul of the National Testing Agency (NTA) by dismissing 47 officials. This decisive action comes as part of a comprehensive cleanup effort targeting the agency, which has faced severe controversy and allegations of irregularities in conducting major national-level entrance tests. According to official sources, legal and criminal proceedings are also likely to be initiated against several of the ousted personnel.
Further stringent measures are expected in the coming days as the government pushes forward with plans to restructure the NTA and fortify its exam delivery mechanism. The agency’s existing outsourcing model is set to undergo significant changes, with authorities reviewing strategies to build a highly secure, leak-proof testing system.
The NTA is currently responsible for conducting nearly 15 to 20 prominent national competitive exams, including NEET, JEE, and CUET, which affect millions of students across the country. The proposed structural reforms aim to restore public confidence, ensure transparency, and enforce strict accountability amidst growing calls for institutional overhauls within the testing body.
