BJP Karkala Spokesperson Ravindra Moily Criticizes Congress Leadership Over NEET Exam Misinformation

Karkala : BJP spokesperson Ravindra Moily has hit out at the local Congress leadership, suggesting that state Congress leaders should conduct an orientation workshop for Karkala Congress office-bearers to educate them on political and policy facts. Expressing concern over the NEET paper leak issue, Moily stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party shares the shock and sorrow of affected students. He emphasized that the Central Government acted swiftly by handing over the investigation to the CBI, leading to the arrest of 13 accused. Furthermore, a re-examination was conducted and results were declared within just 63 days to protect students’ academic prospects. He added that even though the National Testing Agency (NTA) operates as an autonomous body with sole authority over conducting exams, the Modi-led government did not shirk its responsibility and intervened immediately.

Tracing the origins of NEET, Moily clarified that the proposal for a uniform national medical entrance test was initially put forward by the Medical Council of India in 2010 and approved by the Centre in 2013 under the UPA government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh. Although legal hurdles initially delayed the exam, it was subsequently resumed after 2016 through the NTA following Supreme Court approval. Moily questioned why Chief Minister Siddaramaiah failed to push for the retention of Karnataka’s CET system—originally conceptualized by former CM Dr. M. Veerappa Moily to aid meritorious poor students—instead of allowing NEET to take over. He slammed the local Block Congress president for falsely claiming that the Narendra Modi government forced NEET upon students, calling it a clear sign of ignorance and superficial political rhetoric aimed solely at gaining publicity.

Taking a further dig at the Congress party’s track record, Moily pointed out that the previous Congress-led state government in Karnataka had passed the buck to the PUC Board when PUC question papers were leaked twice in 2016, questioning their moral authority to criticize the Centre now. He urged Congress leaders to understand historical realities rather than unfairly blaming the Central Government for cheap publicity, reiterating that a political awareness workshop is urgently needed for Karkala Congress leaders.
