Mangaluru : The pulse polio immunization drive for children under five years of age was officially launched on Sunday. MLC Ivan D’Souza inaugurated the campaign at the Government Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru by administering polio drops to a toddler. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that while India has achieved polio-free status, continuous vaccination is crucial to sustain this milestone. He urged all parents to take special care and ensure that their children receive the polio vaccine without fail.
Several medical and administrative officials graced the inaugural event. District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. H. R. Thimmaiah, Lady Goschen Hospital Superintendent Dr. Durgaprasad, and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Jagadish were present. They were joined by District Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Officer Dr. Rajesh and other senior healthcare personnel who oversaw the smooth rollout of the immunization drive.
