Rowdy-Sheeter Vicky Bappal Attacked with Lethal Weapon near Lalbagh Signal in Mangaluru

Mangaluru : In a daring daytime attack, a rowdy-sheeter was critically injured after being assaulted with a sharp-edged weapon by an unidentified assailant near the Lalbagh signal on Saturday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Vicky Bappal. According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 1:45 PM while he was riding a scooter. Police officials noted that the victim was under police surveillance due to his alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities.

According to eyewitnesses, an unidentified miscreant on a motorcycle pursued Vicky Bappal as he was riding near the Lalbagh junction, slashed him with a machete, and fled the scene immediately. The injured rowdy-sheeter, who sustained a deep cut near his neck, was swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities revealed that Vicky currently has 11 active criminal cases against him, including assault and NDPS (Narcotics) charges, while he was acquitted in six other cases.

Following the attack, police officials alerted all city checkposts and launched an extensive manhunt to track down the fleeing attacker. A formal case is being registered at the Barkhe Police Station, and the Police Inspector of the Mangaluru East Sub-Division is leading the investigation. Preliminary inquiries are underway to ascertain the exact motive behind the assault.
