Bantwal : A major disaster was narrowly averted on Tuesday near Kuntukudelu in Vitla Padnoor village of Bantwal, when a private school bus carrying over 15 students crashed into a roadside electric pole. The vehicle, which was ferrying children to school, reportedly suffered a sudden technical failure while navigating a steep downhill slope.
Unable to retain control over the bus, the driver veered off the road and hit the electric pole with significant impact. The collision caused the pole to snap and fall directly onto the roof of the vehicle, causing substantial damage to the bus’s front section. Despite the high-risk situation, the absence of active power lines or immediate electrical discharge prevented a catastrophic outcome.
Alert local residents quickly rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and safely evacuated all the panicked schoolchildren from the bus. Miraculously, no students or crew members sustained injuries in the incident, bringing immense relief to parents and locals alike.
