Bengaluru : Dismissing any connection between issue of cricket match tickets to MLAs and the shifting of the IPL final from Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today said the reason behind the move may be availability of a larger stadium in Ahmedabad.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, he said, “Ahmedabad has a large stadium and more people can attend — that must be the reason the IPL Final was shifted there. There is no connection between distributing tickets to MLAs and the shifting of the final match.”
When asked about the IPL Final being shifted from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad in the backdrop of MLAs demanding IPL tickets, he quipped, “In other places, 50% of the tickets are reserved.”
When asked about the BCCI having stated that the decision to shift was made due to the ticket issue, he replied, “Let them make such a statement — I will give an appropriate response to that.”
Will not speak about the party’s decision
When asked whether the suspension of Muslim leaders from Davanagere could be revoked, he said, “I will not say anything about this. The party has made this decision. Regarding the removal of the CM’s Political Secretary, the Chief Minister had spoken about it. The Chief Minister has his own information. The party office-bearers have given guidance. The party had given them certain responsibilities, which they did not handle properly — that is why they were removed from their positions. Jabbar had himself submitted his resignation. We have only accepted it.”
We will go to Delhi when called
When asked about the CM and DCM’s visit to Delhi, he said, “We will go when they (the High Command) call us. It is not right to go without being called. They will call, and we will go then.”
Decision for Tamil Nadu’s welfare and to preserve secular principles
When asked about Congress supporting TVK in Tamil Nadu, he said, “This decision has been made to keep BJP away from power and to keep secular forces united. Despite pressure from AIADMK and BJP, TVK did not ally with them. Our party has decided this for the sake of secular forces and for the welfare of Tamil Nadu.”
