Udupi : In a tragic incident reported from Balkattu in Hirebettu village, a Second PUC student committed suicide after being reportedly upset by her parents’ advice to prioritize her education. The deceased has been identified as Samanvi, a resident of Balkattu, who was pursuing her pre-university education.
The incident traces back to the evening of December 26, when Samanvi’s mother noticed her spending excessive time on her mobile phone instead of studying. Concerned about her daughter’s upcoming examinations and future prospects, the mother gently counseled her to focus on her books. However, it appears that the student took this advice to heart and felt deeply hurt by the conversation.
Distressed by the remarks, Samanvi attempted to end her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her bedroom. Her family members, who discovered the act immediately, rushed her to Manipal Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite being under intensive care for a few days, she failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last. The Manipal Police have registered a case regarding the incident and are currently conducting a further investigation into the matter.
