Tumkur : Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D K Shivakumar today sent out a warning to Janata Dal (S) and BJP by declaring that the Congress party would come back to power in 2028.
Speaking at ‘Sarthaka Seva Samarpane’ convention held in Tumkur to mark the government completing 3 years in office, the DCM said, “Your Congress government has brought change in the lives of the people of the state. It has given the entire country a model government, and we will continue to uphold it. May your blessings always be with us. Where there is hard work, history is created. Where there is faith, miracles happen. Where there is truth, victory is certain.”
“According to a study conducted by Oxford University, five guarantees of Karnataka government are programmes that have brought social change in the lives of the poor. These are a model for the world,” he added.
All States Are Following the Guarantee Model
“Our BJP friends and the Prime Minister showered criticism on our guarantee schemes. Today, they themselves are announcing guarantee schemes in every state. The guarantees have become a model for the country and they are copying our guarantee schemes,” he noted.
“We worked with conviction back then to ensure the survival of ordinary people. Now prices of all essential goods are skyrocketing and incomes have hit rock bottom. It is precisely to help with this that we launched the guarantee schemes. Now even Opposition parties are following our pro-people guarantee model,” he said.
Guarantees Are the Inspiration Behind Everyone’s Victories
“All governments – Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana – as well as states with BJP governments are following our guarantee schemes. Our guarantees have been the inspiration behind their electoral victories. Opposition parties criticize us but we never let such criticism bother us. Because criticism dies, but our work lives on,” he said.
“As a sixth guarantee, under the leadership of Krishna Byre Gowda, we have given land rights to 1,11,11,111 people. In Bengaluru city alone, we have provided land guarantees to 27 lakh people. Some friends from BJP and Janata Dal are criticizing this. When God gave them the opportunity — when they had a ‘double engine’ government — why were they unable to do such pro-people work? During COVID, you could not properly deliver justice to those who died and suffered. Recently, I and Siddaramaiah provided government jobs to family members of those who died in the Chamarajanagar oxygen tragedy. With the cooperation of Sharanprakash Patil and District Minister Venkatesh, we have created history across the entire state,” he said.
“Believing that the Congress government would bring change in people’s lives, you elected 136 MLAs. You have given us a great opportunity to repay our debt to you. You have given seven MLAs from Tumkur district,” he added.
Kumaraswamy Cannot Ride the Horse He Was Given
“Just recently, Kumaraswamy called on the people not to pay for converting their B khata to A khata promising that his government would come to power. One who cannot ride the horse he was given is neither a hero nor a brave man. When you had power, you could do nothing. Now, without power, you keep saying you will do wonders with just seventeen MLAs. You cannot do anything. Your MLAs have never spoken a single day in the Assembly about the poor. You don’t have time to solve the problems of your own people. Stop talking about your government coming to power,” he lashed out.
“What change did the BJP bring with the opportunity they got? I ask my BJP friends — why is your Prime Minister telling people to use less petrol, use less cooking oil, take the metro, travel by bus, don’t use cars, don’t buy gold, remove your mangalsutra and tie a turmeric root instead? It is people’s labor, their life, their hardships, their existence. They have only one life, don’t you deserve to live happily? The Prime Minister must answer these questions,” he demanded.
“The dollar has gone up to 96 rupees. Petrol prices were hiked by one rupee again today. Why are BJP leaders not speaking about this? Why are BJP MPs not raising their voices? Why are Ashok and Vijayendra not discussing this? What is your answer to the people’s daily survival?” he questioned.
“The Shakti scheme has set records. Under the leadership of Ramalinga Reddy, history has been made. Five thousand new buses have been purchased. My mothers are traveling with confidence,” he said.
Making a Promise Is Not Important; Keeping It Is
“Parameshwara was appointed as the Chairman of the Manifesto Committee after discussions among myself, Siddaramaiah, and the party’s senior leadership. In three years, we have implemented many programmes. We have fulfilled the promises made to you. We have shown that making a promise is not as important as keeping it. Today, under the leadership of Krishna Byre Gowda, we are distributing land ownership documents to you,” he said.
“What matters is how officials have repaid their debt to the people during their tenure. You don’t need to please anyone. You have worked according to your conscience. Therefore, on behalf of the Congress government and the people of the state, under the leadership of Krishna Byre Gowda, I offer one crore salutations to all the officials of the Revenue Department,” he said.
Tumkur to Develop as a Second Bengaluru
“After Bengaluru, Tumkur has a great history of its own. It shines as an educational hub, the land of Kalpataru. It is Kashi of the South. It is a sacred land that has provided food, education, and shelter. My colleague Parameshwara has said that the only solution to controlling Bengaluru’s population is to transform Tumkur, located to the north, into a second Bengaluru,” he said.
