Puttur : The Puttur Town Police have successfully tracked down and arrested a 32-year-old warrant accused, Naman Nayak, who had been evading court trials for a long-standing POCSO and harassment case. The resident of Narimogaru in Puttur taluk was apprehended from his hideout in Bengaluru’s Kudlu Gate area by a special police team, following precise intelligence on his whereabouts. Upon being brought back to Puttur, he was presented before the local court, which remanded him to 15 days of judicial custody.
The legal action stems from a criminal case (Cr. No. 53/2018) registered against Nayak back in 2018 at the Puttur Town Police Station. He was booked under multiple stringent charges, including Section 12 of the POCSO Act, alongside IPC sections for criminal trespass, criminal intimidation (threatening life), and assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty. Despite the ongoing judicial proceedings, the accused had gone into hiding and consistently failed to appear before the court, prompting the judiciary to issue a non-bailable warrant against him before the police team eventually closed in on him.
