Mangaluru : City South MLA Vedavyas Kamath expressed severe outrage against the state Congress government, accusing it of disrupting the peaceful educational atmosphere in schools and colleges by withdrawing the disciplined uniform rule. He stated that the previous BJP government had implemented the uniform guidelines with the sole intention of fostering equality and unity among students in educational institutions. He questioned the rationale behind the government’s decision to divide students based on religion for the sake of appeasement politics, emphasizing that the core purpose of a uniform is to cultivate a sense of equality by making students forget differences of caste, creed, and religion.
The MLA further criticized the government’s move to lift the hijab ban while the issue is still pending before the Supreme Court, terming it a disregard for the judicial process and tantamount to contempt of court. He remarked that Congress’s willingness to ignore the country’s integrity and the Constitution for its vote-bank politics highlights its historic “divide and rule” policy. By allowing the hijab while banning saffron shawls, the government has proven its administration to be a “Tughlaq-style” rule. Kamath noted that instead of addressing critical issues like the shortage of teachers and lack of basic infrastructure in government schools, the government is busy sowing seeds of separation among young minds. He concluded that such extreme appeasement policies have already decimated the Congress party across the country, and predicted that the electorate will soon consign it to the dustbin of history in the state as well.
