Udupi : In a sudden and tragic incident, Eshwar Gowda, a Yakshagana artist belonging to the Mandarthi troupe, passed away due to a heart attack. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves across the entire Yakshagana community.
Eshwar Gowda was known for portraying the role of Mahishasura in the Mandarthi Second Troupe. It is reported that shortly after completing his performance last night and while in the process of removing his costume, he suddenly felt unwell. He reportedly breathed his last while being rushed to the hospital.
Eshwar Gowda, who completed his stage role moments before his passing, was the son of a senior Yakshagana artist in the same troupe. It is particularly poignant that just before taking the stage for his performance, he sought and received blessings from his father in the Chowki (dressing room).
The untimely death of the young artist is considered an irreparable loss to the Yakshagana art form and the community.
