Kasaragod : A tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon near Malo Kutti Kavala in Chitharikkal, Kasaragod, where a bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims rolled down a gorge. The incident resulted in one fatality and 46 injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Harish (36) from Chunchanakatte, Mysuru. Initial reports indicate that two of the injured sustained serious injuries.
The accident took place around 2:50 PM as the bus was returning to Mysuru after the Sabarimala pilgrimage. The driver lost control at the Kutti Kavala curve, causing the bus to plunge approximately 30 feet into a ravine.
The bus was carrying a total of 56 pilgrims, including six children, at the time of the crash.
Local citizens and police quickly initiated rescue operations, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals in Pariyaram, Cheruppuzha, and Payyanur. Two people were admitted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, four to Cheruppuzha Cooperative Hospital, and twenty to Cheruppuzha St. Sebastian Hospital for medical treatment.
