Mangaluru : The Mangaluru City Police have made a significant breakthrough in their efforts against drug trafficking, arresting four individuals suspected of supplying narcotics to the general public, including school and college students. The operation, led by ACP Manoj Kumar Naik of the City Crime Branch (CCB), resulted in the seizure of approximately 517.76 grams of MDMA (Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine), which is valued at nearly ₹50 lakh on the street.
The successful raid took place on Saturday, December 6, following precise intelligence gathering. The CCB team intercepted a blue Maruti Fronx car near the Sundaram Shetty Convention Hall, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Mulki police station. The suspects were apprehended while allegedly attempting to carry out drug sales, indicating the organized nature of their distribution network within the city and surrounding areas.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammed Shiyab (from Kundapura), Mohammed Naushad (from Ullal), Imran (from Kasaba Bengre, Mangaluru), and Nisar Ahmad (from Bantwal). In addition to the large quantity of MDMA and the ₹10 lakh car used for the crime, the police also seized five mobile phone handsets. Investigations have so far revealed that the narcotics were reportedly sourced from Bengaluru by a Nigerian national before being transported to Mangaluru for illegal distribution to generate profit.
A case has been officially registered against the four suspects at the Mulki police station under FIR No. 124/2025. They have been booked under sections 22(C) and 21(C) of the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and Section 3(5) of the BNS Act (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Act).
