Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) police unit has successfully dismantled a drug smuggling operation, arresting three individuals involved in transporting and supplying the banned substance MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) from Bengaluru to drug peddlers in Mangaluru. The City Police Commissioner identified the arrested individuals as Ahammed Shabith (35) from Mallur, Mangaluru, Mohammed Shamsheer (36) from Parliya, Bantwal, and Nausheen (27) from Sarapady. The operation was executed by the CCB unit on December 13th, based on specific intelligence. The police intercepted the team, who were traveling in a car near Arkula, and took them into custody, seizing both the narcotics and the equipment used for the operation.
During the arrest, the police recovered a significant quantity of MDMA, weighing approximately 90 grams, along with the car used for the transportation and multiple mobile phones. Investigations revealed that the primary accused, Ahammed Shabith, was systematically bringing the MDMA from Bengaluru and continuously supplying it to local drug peddlers in Mangaluru. Furthermore, the team intentionally involved Nausheen, a woman, in the operation to transport the drugs, believing her presence would help them evade suspicion during checks. The CCB officers and staff successfully gathered this crucial information and apprehended the entire team. Following their arrest, the accused were produced before the court and have been remanded to judicial custody, with the police continuing their investigation into the wider drug network.
