Mangaluru : Student team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE), Moodabidri has achieved national recognition at the prestigious e-Yantra Innovation Challenge 2025–26 organized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
The team was honored with the “Entrepreneurial Potential & Best Business Pitch Award” for their innovative project titled “Multi-Crops Dehusker.” The achievement also includes a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, along with an exclusive 8-week pre-incubation opportunity for the team leader at e-Yantra, IIT Bombay, providing a strong platform to further develop their startup idea.
The e-Yantra Innovation Challenge (eYIC), sponsored by the Ministry of Education – Government of India, promotes hands-on, project-based learning combined with domain training, making it an ideal platform for young engineers aspiring to build startups. The program fosters a strong startup mindset and provides incubation opportunities, enabling students to transform innovative ideas into impactful real-world solutions.
The competition witnessed participation from 323 teams across the country, out of which only 16 teams were shortlisted as finalists for the grand finale held at IIT Bombay. The MITE team successfully secured a place among these top finalists and showcased their project at the national level.
The project “Multi-Crops Dehusker” was developed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering team comprising Mr. Manoj Kumar B V, Mr. Deekshith K Gowda, Mr. Pradhyumna Murthy, and Mr. Swasthik, under the mentorship of Dr. Shivaramu H T and Mr. Yuvaraj K B.
Congratulating the team, MITE Chairman Mr. Rajesh Chowta stated, “Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the core of MITE’s vision. Achievements at prestigious platforms like e-Yantra reflect the institution’s commitment to nurturing creative thinking and problem-solving abilities among students. This recognition reinforces institute’s focus on building a strong ecosystem that supports innovation, startups, and impactful engineering solutions.”
The Principal of MITE, Dr. Prashanth C M, along with Dr. C R Rajashekar, Vice Principal & Head of Mechanical Engineering, appreciated the students and mentors for bringing laurels to the institution and encouraged more students to actively participate in such national-level competitions.
