Mangaluru : The Mangaluru North police have successfully traced and arrested a warrant accused who had been evading the law for the past two years. The apprehended individual has been identified as 59-year-old Goods Munir, also known as T.P. Munir or Ahmed. A resident of Goods Road in Bunder, Munir was found residing in a rented house in Kulshekar at the time of his arrest.
The case dates back to 1998, registered under Crime No. 291/1998 at the Mangaluru North police station. The accused faces charges under Sections 143, 147, 436, and 149 of the Indian Penal Code. The legal proceedings were active before the Third Additional District and Sessions Court under SC No. 68/2024. However, because the accused failed to appear for hearings and remained untraceable for nearly two years, the court had issued a formal warrant for his arrest.
On April 25, acting on credible information, officers and staff from the Mangaluru North police station conducted a raid at his Kulshekar residence. Following his arrest, Munir was produced before the court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody. This arrest marks the conclusion of a two-year manhunt for the long-standing fugitive.
