Bantwal : Senior RSS leader Dr. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat expressed fierce outrage over the notice issued to him by the Mangaluru police in connection with the Rehman murder case, mocking it as being “equal to a strand of hair.” Speaking to the media following the Bantwal and BC Road Chalo protests, he acknowledged speaking to Bharath Kumdel over the phone using his constitutional rights, but asserted that he never incited murder or violence. Criticizing the police for acting like “henchmen” of the Home Minister and Chief Minister despite possessing the audio recording, Bhat declared that with 110 cases already against him, he remains undeterred by politically motivated notices.

Furthermore, Prabhakar Bhat accused the police of invoking the Goonda Act against innocent individuals like Bharath Kumdel and sending them to jail. He pointed out that following Bharath’s arrest, his family suffered severe financial hardship, and the police even booked the auto-rickshaw driver who helped transport Bharath’s ailing child to the hospital, calling it proof of police high-handedness. Questioning the constitutional validity of targeting those who extend humanitarian help, Bhat emphasized that while they do not support murder culture, they will not tolerate the wrongful framing of innocent people. On the re-investigation of the Soujanya murder case in Dharmasthala, he welcomed the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) but expressed skepticism over its members, urging that efficient officers like Mangaluru Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy should have been included to instil public confidence and ensure absolute truth prevails after 14 years.

Addressing the protest rally at BC Road, Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupura Vajradehi Matha thundered that it was time to revolt against injustice rather than deliver gentle discourses. Targeting the Superintendent of Police, the Swamiji remarked that officers carrying the title ‘Doctor’ should learn courage and conviction from Dr. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, the sole doctor of the Hindu community. He strongly condemned the government and police for invoking the Goonda Act against Bharath Kumdel immediately after the COCA charges were dropped in court, solely to deny him bail.

The Swamiji reiterated that neither he nor the Hindu community would ever justify the Bantwal murder, but they will not tolerate the harassment of innocent people out of political vendetta. Warning religious fanatics who allegedly called for shooting Bharath Kumdel, he asserted that no force can shake the coastal region, which remains a stronghold of Hindutva. Warning partisan police officials of accountability when power shifts in the state, the Swamiji hailed Bajrang Dal and VHP as the identity of Hindu society and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Goonda Act against Bharath Kumdel, stating that arresting one Bharath Kumdel would give birth to thousands more.
