Mangaluru : In a unified show of support, various prominent people’s organizations from across Dakshina Kannada district have issued a passionate appeal to all Members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Setting aside political boundaries, these citizen groups have called upon MLAs of all party affiliations to vote overwhelmingly in favor of P.V. Mohan in the upcoming Karnataka Legislative Council election slated for June 18, 2026. The collective bodies emphasized that electing a grassroots leader like him would steer the region’s politics toward a more inclusive and progressive path.
The groups highlighted P.V. Mohan’s stellar track record of over forty years dedicated to grassroots movements throughout the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. Throughout his extensive career, he has transcended the divisions of caste, language, creed, and religion to fiercely protect the rights of youth, students, and marginalized communities. Leveraging his diverse background as a former journalist, intellectual, social activist, and currently a Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), he has consistently fought for social justice while being a cornerstone for communal harmony and peace in a sensitive district.
The signatories also expressed their deep gratitude to the top brass of the Indian National Congress—including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and newly elected KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad—for choosing Mohan as the party’s official candidate, even if the decision came a bit late. In a political landscape often clouded by narrow self-interests, the organizations praised Mohan as a beacon of simplicity, integrity, and unwavering public service. They strongly believe that his entry into the State Legislature will break the shackles of caste-dominated politics and usher in a model of people-centric governance that can inspire the entire state, giving a powerful voice to the unheard youth and underrepresented communities of coastal Karnataka.
