Mumbai: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who arrived in Mumbai for a private engagement, was accorded a warm and grand welcome at Mumbai Airport by office bearers of the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (Regd.) on June 20.
The felicitation ceremony was led by the founder of the organization, Thonse Jayakrishna A. Shetty, whose association has been actively working towards environmental conservation and the overall development of Coastal Karnataka.
Among those present on the occasion were the Samiti’s President Nityananda D. Kotian, State Coordinator K.P. Jagadish Adhikari, Vice Presidents I.R. Shetty and Felix D’Souza and Hon. General Secretary Mundkur Surendra Salian. They warmly received the Chief Minister with a floral bouquet and extended their greetings on behalf of the Kannada community in Mumbai.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar graciously accepted the heartfelt welcome and appreciated the organization’s commitment to environmental protection and its various social initiatives. He also conveyed his gratitude to the members for their warm reception.
It may be recalled that soon after D.K. Shivakumar assumed office as Chief Minister, Jayakrishna A. Shetty had met him to convey his congratulations and held detailed discussions regarding the comprehensive development of Coastal Karnataka.
Significantly, during a major review meeting on Coastal Karnataka tourism held in Bengaluru on June 19, the Chief Minister announced that the government would soon convene a special Cabinet meeting in the coastal region to accelerate tourism growth and infrastructure development. The announcement has generated considerable optimism regarding the future development of the region.
