Bengaluru : Emphasizing the importance of political statesmanship, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that it is essential to value the experience and seek the guidance of senior leaders who have dedicatedly served the state. He made these remarks on Monday evening in Bengaluru after personally visiting the residences of former Chief Ministers M. Veerappa Moily, Jagadish Shettar, and D.V. Sadananda Gowda to seek their blessings and interact with them.
Addressing the media regarding the significance of these meetings, Shivakumar clarified that his outreach cuts across party lines. He noted that he has met with Moily, Shettar, Sadananda Gowda, and Basavaraj Bommai, and is also looking forward to meeting H.D. Kumaraswamy if given an appointment. The Chief Minister stressed that regardless of current political alignments, these leaders have steered the state in the past and inherently deserve the highest level of respect for their public service.
Reflecting on their contributions, Shivakumar highlighted that each of these leaders has implemented welfare measures for the public, citing the example of Sadananda Gowda introducing the citizen-centric ‘Sakala’ scheme. He mentioned that since these leaders are senior to him, he approached them to gain valuable insights for governance, adding that personal party ideologies and political differences remain entirely separate from administrative respect. Furthermore, touching upon national politics following an INDIA bloc meeting, Shivakumar expressed confidence that the Congress party would grow stronger under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge to safeguard the country’s democratic framework.
