Chitradurga : Karnataka’s Minister for Planning and Statistics, D. Sudhakar, passed away in the early hours of Sunday at a private hospital in Bengaluru. The 66-year-old Hiriyur MLA and Chitradurga district in-charge minister had been battling health issues for several days. He was initially admitted to Manipal Hospital for knee surgery, but complications arose after a lung infection developed, leading to his transfer to the ICU at KIIMS Hospital in Electronic City, where he breathed his last around 3:15 AM.
In response to his demise, the state government has announced a three-day mourning period across Karnataka from May 10 to May 12. During this time, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on government buildings, and all official public entertainment programs have been canceled. To honor the late minister, the government has also declared a public holiday on Monday, May 11, for all government offices, schools, colleges, and state-owned enterprises within the Chitradurga district.
Final rites for Minister Sudhakar will be performed with full state honors. His body will be kept for public viewing at the D. Sudhakar Stadium in Challakere town, Chitradurga district, allowing fans and supporters to pay their last respects. The cremation ceremonies are scheduled to take place at the Sudhakar Shuttlecock Court in Challakere. Dignitaries and members of the public from across the state have expressed deep condolences over the loss of the veteran leader.
