Udupi : Torrential rainfall over the past two weeks has triggered severe landslide threats in parts of Karkala taluk, with the situation turning critical in Renjala village. Following a landslide near the residence of local resident Hemme Hariprasad, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T.K. and Tahsildar Pradeep R. inspected the site to assess the ground reality and evaluate the damage.
As a precautionary measure to prevent any casualties or mishaps, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to temporarily relocate the affected family members to a nearby government school for safe shelter. During her inspection, DC Swaroopa T.K. interacted with local residents to understand their concerns and directed administrative officers to ensure all necessary relief arrangements and safety measures are provided immediately.
To determine the underlying cause of the landslide and assess further risks in the region, a team of geologists from the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Bengaluru, is scheduled to visit and inspect the affected area tomorrow.
