Mangaluru : Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a stern warning against anyone attempting to interfere with or obstruct legally permitted activities during the Navratri festival. He emphasized that if aggrieved organizers or individuals file complaints regarding such disruptions, appropriate legal action will be initiated promptly against the offenders.
Highlighting the severity of taking the law into one’s own hands, the Police Commissioner warned that individuals attempting to block lawful events under the guise of moral policing or personal objections will face serious legal consequences. Based on the severity of their actions, offenders could face imprisonment of up to 10 years.
Clarifying the official protocol, the Police Commissioner stated that if citizens or organizations suspect any illegal activities taking place, they should simply inform the police department. He assured that the police force would investigate and take necessary action to stop any genuine unlawful acts, urging the public not to intervene directly.
This warning comes after certain Sangh Parivar organizations approached the police department, demanding a ban on events like fashion shows, vulgar dances, and Western-style parties held in the name of Dandiya during Navratri celebrations across the city.
