MLA Bharath Shetty Demands CBI Probe into KPSC and Recruitment Exam Scams in Karnataka

Mangaluru : In a scathing attack on the state government, Mangaluru City North MLA Y. Bharath Shetty demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged scams in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), recruitment corruption across various government departments, and frequent question paper leaks. Addressing a press conference at the BJP district office in Mangaluru on Wednesday, he stated that the examination system in Karnataka has turned into utter chaos. He added that despite young aspirants working tirelessly for competitive exams, they are denied job opportunities due to a complete lack of transparency, proving that the government has no genuine concern for the youth.

Sharply criticizing Home Minister Priyank Kharge, Shetty alleged that the Minister is more focused on national politics in Delhi rather than addressing pressing issues within the state. He remarked that Kharge is busy pointing fingers at others while ignoring massive corruption under his own nose. Asserting that corruption in the police department has crossed all limits, the MLA accused the Minister of neglecting his portfolio and demanded his immediate resignation. He also pointed out that despite thousands of vacant posts like Tahsildar and Assistant Commissioner, KPSC has been repeatedly conducting exams over the past three years without making actual recruitments, rendering the hard work of youth futile.

Furthermore, Shetty highlighted the dire state of higher education in Karnataka, noting that government universities are suffering from a severe lack of funding, forcing them to shut down various courses. Surprisingly, autonomous universities are successfully launching those same courses without facing a shortage of students, exposing the government’s total neglect toward improving infrastructure in public universities. BJP District Vice President Pooja Pai, Mangaluru North Mandal General Secretary Randeep Kanchan, District Yuva Morcha Vice President Ashrith Nonda, and Spokesperson Jeevan Kumar Thokkottu were present at the press conference.
