Udupi : In a joint special operation, the Udupi Regional Transport Office (RTO) and the Traffic Police registered cases against 23 buses for violating traffic guidelines and road safety regulations. The drive was conducted to ensure strict compliance with the directives issued during the recent District Road Safety Committee meeting chaired by the Udupi Deputy Commissioner.
The inspection drive resulted in 15 cases being booked under the Udupi Traffic Police Station limits on Monday, while 8 cases were registered under the Kundapura Traffic Police Station limits during a similar operation on July 27. Officials collected a total fine of ₹11,500 from the defaulting bus operators during these enforcement drives.
Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar stated that the joint inspection drive against private and public transport buses violating safety norms will continue strictly across the district in the coming days to ensure passenger safety and smooth traffic flow.
