Puttur : Rural Police Bust Major MDMA Trafficking Racket; Four Arrested Acting on a tip-off, the Puttur Rural police successfully dismantled a significant drug trafficking network operating within their jurisdiction on January 24. The racket was reportedly involved in the illegal sale and consumption of MDMA across several local areas, including Bettampady, Irde, Renja, and Arlapadavu. Puttur : During the targeted operation, law enforcement arrested four individuals, including Mohammad Harshad, Mohammad Aarish, and Ibrahim Ashraf (also known as Roja Ashraf), all residents of Puttur. Additionally, the police apprehended Mustafa from Bantwal, who is alleged to have been the primary supplier of the narcotics to the group.
The raid resulted in the seizure of a variety of illicit substances and assets used in the criminal enterprise. Specifically, police recovered approximately 6.39 grams of MDMA with an estimated market value of ₹50,000, as well as a small quantity of ganja. Furthermore, officers confiscated two vehicles used for trafficking and several mobile phones, bringing the total value of the seized property to approximately ₹6.5 lakh. Following the arrests, a formal case was registered at the Puttur Rural police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act.
The operation was executed by a dedicated investigative team led by Sub-Inspector Gunapal J. and Sub-Inspector Sushma Bhandary. The team, supported by personnel from a special task force and the SOCO unit, worked meticulously to track the movement of the accused and secure the evidence. This successful crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts of the local police to curb the drug menace and ensure the safety of the community in the Puttur region.
