Mangaluru : Residents of Doddapalke, Kattalsar, and Goshala areas within the Paduperar Gram Panchayat limits near Mangaluru are living in a state of constant fear following frequent leopard sightings. According to locals, the big cats have been spotted roaming even during broad daylight, making people hesitant to step out of their homes. Some alert citizens have even managed to capture photographs of the leopard on their mobile phones as evidence of its presence in the vicinity.
In response to the growing concerns and formal complaints from the villagers, the Forest Department has intervened by placing a cage in the area to capture the animal. Reports suggest that on Tuesday evening around 7 PM, several people spotted a leopard in the Doddapalke-Goshala stretch, where it reportedly remained for nearly three hours. This prolonged presence has intensified the anxiety among the local community, especially for those with livestock and children.
While the forest officials have confirmed the leopard’s movement in the region, the residents feel that merely placing a cage is insufficient. They have urged the authorities to take more proactive and immediate measures to ensure public safety. The community is demanding a swift operation to capture the leopard and relocate it to a forest area before any untoward incident occurs.
