Kodagu : Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has accused the state government of creating hurdles in the implementation of Central Government welfare and developmental projects. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he expressed concern that the state’s absence from high-level meetings convened by the Centre is detrimental to regional progress. He specifically highlighted that the state government is stalling crucial land acquisition processes, including the Mysuru-Kushalnagar railway line, citing a lack of funds as the primary reason for the delay.
Addressing the viability of the Mysuru-Kushalnagar railway project, the MP noted that while officials have classified the route as non-profitable based on standard departmental criteria, the social benefits outweigh the financial gains. He asserted that he would not allow the project to be shelved and intends to raise the matter in the parliamentary session to revive it. He reassured environmentalists that since the line concludes at Kushalnagar, it would not cause any ecological damage to the sensitive landscape of Kodagu, and he remains committed to ensuring its completion.
In addition to the railway project, the MP shared updates on road infrastructure, stating that ₹90 crore has been sanctioned to construct retaining walls at 18 vulnerable spots along National Highway 275 between Madikeri and Sampaje. He informed that the foundation stone laying ceremony (Bhoomi Pooja) for these works will be performed shortly. His statements emphasize a growing friction between the central representative and the state administration over the pacing of infrastructure development in the Mysuru-Kodagu belt.
