Bantwal : The Bantwal Rural Police have registered a case against the Farangipete Post Office following the shocking discovery of 400 to 500 original Aadhaar cards discarded on the banks of the Netravati River in Sujir, Pudu village. The incident, which came to light on the evening of March 3, involves cards dated between 2013 and 2023. These original documents, which bore the official seals of the Farangipete Post Office, were found by local residents instead of being delivered to the respective households. The recovered cards are currently in the custody of the local Gram Panchayat.
The legal action follows a formal report submitted by the Panemangalore Revenue Inspector to the Tehsildar, seeking strict measures against the postal department for a serious breach of duty. The complaint highlights that as public servants, postal staff have a legal obligation to ensure the safe and secure delivery of such sensitive personal documents. By abandoning the cards in a public place, the department has not only displayed extreme negligence but has also risked the leak of private citizen data, which constitutes a significant breach of public trust. The police are now investigating the matter to hold the responsible officials accountable.
