Udupi : Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament, Kota Srinivas Poojary, recently inspected the ongoing construction of the Ambalpady flyover, which has been under development for the past year and a half. During the site visit, the MP was accompanied by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) engineer Naveen and other senior officials to assess the final stages of the project. This infrastructure work was initiated to address the persistent issues of heavy traffic congestion and frequent road accidents that have plagued the Ambalpady junction, a critical point for local commuters.
While addressing the media, the MP highlighted that the completion of the flyover would be a significant relief for motorists, as it is expected to streamline vehicle flow and drastically reduce the traffic bottleneck in the area. He acknowledged the public’s concerns regarding the project’s timeline and noted that the pressure from residents and passengers has played a role in pushing the work toward its concluding phase. The project aims to provide a safer and more efficient transit route for those traveling through the Udupi highway stretch.
Regarding the official opening, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary stated that although efforts were made to finish the first phase of the project by the end of May, certain technical constraints have shifted the timeline slightly. He assured that one side of the flyover will be formally opened for vehicular traffic by the first week of June. The engineering team is currently working at an accelerated pace to resolve the final technical requirements, ensuring that the bridge is safe and ready for public use within the promised duration.
