Mangaluru : To mark International Yoga Day, the historic Sri Kshetra Karinjeshwara, popularly revered as ‘Bhukailasa’, is all set to host the grand ‘Yoga with Yodha’ event, announced Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta. Nestled amidst the breathtaking Kodyamale hill ranges, the temple courtyard will welcome yoga enthusiasts, veterans, and citizens for the 3rd edition of this flagship wellness initiative on Sunday, June 21, at 3:00 PM.
Championed globally under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, International Yoga Day is now celebrated across more than 180 countries, gaining immense global prestige. This year marks the 12th International Yoga Day, themed “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasizing the profound role of yoga in maintaining holistic physical and mental well-being. The upcoming session in the lap of nature will be guided by renowned yoga expert Gopalakrishna Delampady, bringing together students, retired military personnel, dignitaries, and the general public on a single platform to rejuvenate their spiritual and physical energies.
The ‘Yoga with Yodha’ initiative is also strategically designed to boost tourism across the hidden gems of Dakshina Kannada. While the inaugural edition successfully took place at the adventure-sports hub of Sasihithlu, the second edition was held on the scenic shores of the historic Someshwara Temple. Moving the venue to the Karinja Cliff this year—perched majestically at 1,500 feet above sea level—the administration aims to place this magnificent religious and eco-tourism spot prominently on the global tourism map.
Capt. Chowta described the event as a meaningful effort to showcase the coastal region’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage to the world. He made a special appeal to local social media influencers, media personnel, and the public to attend the event in large numbers and create engaging digital content. By capturing and sharing the divine beauty of the Karinjeshwara hills online, he noted, the community can collectively inspire domestic and international travelers to explore this sacred destination.
