Culture and Values Can Be Nurtured Through Bhajans: Ujire Ashok Bhat at Dharmasthala Bhajan Workshop

Dharmasthala: Emphasizing the crucial role of moral values in modern education, Ashok Bhat of Ujire stated that cultural values necessary for a meaningful life can be effectively cultivated through the practice of devotional singing (Bhajans). He was addressing the gathering as the key speaker on the third day of the 28th annual Bhajan Training Workshop organized by the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajan Parishat at Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala on Wednesday.

In his lecture, Ashok Bhat pointed out that today’s youth often overlook core values while pursuing material success and professional growth, where divine remembrance plays a vital role in reviving these values. He noted that the lack of cultural grounding is a primary reason behind addiction and negative influences, adding that excessive indulgence and misplaced parental affection also contribute to the erosion of values among children. He further remarked that moral character is essential for making an individual a proud contributor to India’s identity, crediting the Dasa heritage for making historic contributions in imparting these values through Bhajans.

Highlighting the spiritual significance of devotional music, he stated that Bhajans serve as a righteous path to lead the soul toward the Supreme Being. He praised Khavandar (Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade) for driving profound religious and social transformations over the past 28 years through this Bhajan workshop, successfully inspiring the younger generation toward spirituality.

On this occasion, Shri Shri Shri Mohanadasa Paramahamsa Swamiji of Shri Mahalaxmi Seva Pratishtana, Sridhama, Manila; Bhajan Workshop Committee Convener Subramanya Prasad; Secretary Veeru Shetty; committee members; and camp participants were present. Additionally, state-level trainer Ramakrishna Katukukke from Kasaragod conducted practical Bhajan sessions for the participants at the Mahotsava Sabha Bhavana, guiding them through iconic compositions such as ‘Kangalidyathako Kaveri Rangana Nodada’ and other devotional songs. The training event was also graced by Shri Shri Shri Mohanadasa Paramahamsa Swamiji, Bhajan Parishat Vice President Dr. Hemavathi Heggade, and Aishwarya Nischal Jain.
