Udupi : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, accompanied by his wife, visited the historic Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur on Sunday morning, June 28. The couple offered special prayers to the presiding deity and actively participated in the sacred Chandika Homa performed at the shrine. Following the rituals, the temple administration honored the visiting dignitary by presenting him with the goddess’s prasadam and a commemorative souvenir as a token of respect.
Prominent political figures and administrative officials attended the religious event, including former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, former Byndoor MLA K. Gopal Poojary, and the Temple Management Committee President Babu Shetty Taggarse. Executive Officer Prashanth Kumar Shetty, along with management committee members Abhilash P.V., Surendra Shetty, Raghuram Devadiga, Sudha K., Dhanakshi Poojary, and Congress leader Hariprasad Rai, were also among the notable guests present during the visit.
Interacting with media personnel after his prayers, the Deputy Chief Minister revealed that a comprehensive master plan has been designed to drastically upgrade the infrastructure at Kollur. The proposed development roadmap aims to streamline the influx of devotees by establishing superior amenities, structured parking layouts, and modern lodging facilities. Dr. Parameshwara emphasized that refining the overall pilgrimage experience and prioritizing visitor convenience remain the core objectives of this upcoming mega-project.
Addressing a broader administrative issue regarding the state’s religious endowments, Dr. Parameshwara announced strict directives aimed at safeguarding temple assets under the Muzrai Department. He stated that the Muzrai Commissioner and respective District Commissioners across all districts have been instructed to identify and swiftly clear all illegal encroachments on temple properties. The government is committed to reclaiming these encroached lands through decisive legal action in the near future.
