Mangaluru : The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has expressed fierce resentment over Minister U.T. Khader’s recent directive to the Mangaluru Police Commissioner instructing law enforcement to initiate shootouts against rowdies. Reacting strongly to the development, SDPI Mangaluru Rural District President Anwar Sadat termed the minister’s statement as completely unconstitutional and illegal. He emphasized that police personnel are equipped with firearms and revolvers strictly for self-defense and tactical protection, rather than for arbitrarily opening fire on individuals.
Praising the efficiency of the local law enforcement, Sadat highlighted that the police officers serving in the district are highly capable professionals who maintain law and order through the rule of law rather than the barrel of a gun. He noted that the entire district currently enjoys a peaceful atmosphere. However, he alleged that this harmonious environment does not suit Minister U.T. Khader and his close associates. According to the SDPI leader, two highly efficient police officers in the district have actively blocked the illegal operations of the minister’s followers, causing immense frustration within the minister’s camp.
The SDPI further alleged a deeper conspiracy behind the minister’s controversial statement, claiming it is a systematic plot to oust the upright officers from the district. Sadat argued that by provoking the officers to engage in shootouts, the minister’s camp intends to hold them accountable for the subsequent legal fallout and ensure their transfer out of the region. Condemning these actions, the SDPI has submitted a formal appeal to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, demanding the immediate dismissal of Minister U.T. Khader from the state cabinet.
