Mangaluru: A rape allegation has been made against Krishna Rao, the son of BJP leader Jagannivas Rao from Puttur. The accused Krishna, after falling in love with his classmate, had physical relations with her, made her pregnant and now refused to marry her. The young woman has now filed a complaint with the Puttur Women’s Police Station in this regard, and the police, who have registered this complaint, have laid a trap to find Krishna Rao.
The young woman, who is studying BSc at a private college in Mangaluru, and the accused Krishna were in love with each other while studying in high school in Puttur. Later, on October 11, 2024, when no one was at home, Krishna called her home and had physical relations with her, promising to marry her. And in January 2025, he forcibly had physical relations with her again. It is alleged that Krishna refused to marry her after learning that the young woman was pregnant.
The aggrieved woman filed a complaint with the police station on the night of June 24, and when the case was registered, the accused Krishna Rao went into hiding. The police are currently laying a trap to find him.
As stated in the complaint, on October 11, 2024, when no one was at home, the accused Krishna Rao called the victim to his house and tried to have physical contact with her forcibly. When the woman objected, he promised to marry her and told her to keep the matter a secret. Later, in January, he called her home again and had physical contact with her. As a result, she became pregnant and is now nine months pregnant. She told her parents about this. Later, when the family informed the young man’s family, a discussion took place and the they agreed to the marriage. However, Krishna Rao refused to marry her. In this context, the young woman has asked in her complaint to take appropriate legal action against the accused.
The police have registered a case under sections 64(1) and 69 of the Indian Penal Code and are conducting operations to locate the absconding accused Krishna J. Rao.
