Kanakapura : Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said he was ready for a debate with Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Bidadi township.
“I am ready for a debate with Kumaraswamy on Bidadi township. Let the media decide the date. I had accepted the challenge when he was the CM. I am inviting him for the debate even now,” he said while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the new Rama temple near here.
When pointed out to Kumaraswamy’s statement that DK brothers must come for debate on the Bidadi township, he said, “I am ready whenever Kumaraswamy is ready for the debate. Let the media decide the dates. Inform me three days before so that I can block my calendar.”
Replying to Kumaraswamy’s statement that he won’t allow Bidadi township, he said, “He is doing politics. It is not me who started this project, it was started by him. He has admitted that he had promised 800 square feet of land to farmers. We are only continuing the project now.”
“Neither Kumarswamy nor I are permanent here, but our decisions will be permanent. It will greatly benefit the future generations and they will remember us. We have widened the roads in my constituency and we have given a compensation of Rs 1500 per square feet to them.”
State politics
Asked about Kumaraswamy’s statement that people want him in state politics, he said, “How can we stop if someone wants to come? He is in politics now also, I don’t understand the national and state politics.”
500 temples in Kanakapura constituency
“We have built around 500 temples in our constituency. My father had built Shakareshwara temple during his time. We are helping people of all religion. We have helped construction of masjids and churches,” he added.
Asked about his statement that Ramamandira will give him strength, he said, “When I went to jail, people from the constituency had come to Delhi barefoot. I was released from the jail after 48 days due to the prayers of our people. The people of my constituency are my assets. I have given up our ancestral property in my native. And we have donated other lands to schools and hostels.”
