Udupi : In a swift operation on Tuesday, the Malpe Police arrested an accused fisherman attempting to flee after murdering a co-worker following an altercation aboard an anchored boat at Padukere jetty in Kodavoor village, under Malpe police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek (24), while the arrested accused is Govinda. A severe fight broke out between Govinda and Abhishek aboard the boat on the night of August 24. As a continuation of the dispute, Govinda murdered Abhishek in the early hours of August 25 and fled the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Malpe Police Sub-Inspector (Law & Order) Anil Kumar D., along with staff members Head Constable Adarsh and Constable Kuber, immediately launched a search operation. The team successfully apprehended Govinda as he was heading toward the Udupi railway station to escape to Mumbai or Hyderabad.
Investigating officers revealed that the accused Govinda had not visited his home for the past 15 years and worked in various places, including Mumbai and Hyderabad. In connection with the incident, Crime No. 92/2026 has been registered under BNS Section 103 at the Malpe Police Station, and further legal action is underway.
