Mangaluru : A week-long free health check-up camp specially organized for the members of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association and their families was inaugurated on Saturday at Srinivas Hospital, Mukka. Driven by the noble motto of ‘Caring for those who work for society,’ this dedicated medical initiative is set to provide comprehensive health screenings to the media fraternity over the coming days.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. David Rosario, Medical Superintendent of Srinivas Hospital, emphasized that safeguarding the health of journalists, who represent the fourth pillar of democracy, is an essential social responsibility. He expressed great pride in collaborating with the journalists’ association for this welfare drive and announced that the hospital plans to introduce a special health card in the future to ensure continued medical benefits and support for media professionals.
Pushparaj B.N., President of the Working Journalists’ Association, highlighted the demanding nature of media jobs, noting that journalists, photographers, and television cameramen consistently work round-the-clock under immense pressure. He urged all district journalists to prioritize their health and actively utilize this free check-up facility available from today until June 27. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Chancellor of Srinivas University, as well as the hospital management and medical staff for their prompt and generous response to this initiative.
Adding to the appreciation, Press Club President Harish Rai lauded the A. Shama Rao Foundation for its long-standing history of impactful community service and social welfare projects. He stated that the collaboration between Srinivas Hospital and the journalists’ association to offer free medical check-ups for members and their dependents is a highly commendable and much-needed gesture for the community.
The inaugural event witnessed the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including State Association Representative Srinivas Indaje, General Secretary Rajesh K. Poojary, and Srinivas University Registrars Dr. K. Satyanarayana Reddy and Dr. Anil Kumar.
