Mangaluru : Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. announced on Wednesday that a total of 37,337 candidates, including 18,745 boys and 18,592 girls, are set to appear for the upcoming II PUC examinations in Dakshina Kannada district. Addressing a press conference at the Zilla Panchayat, the DC stated that 59 examination centers have been established, comprising 15 government, 22 private, and 22 aided colleges. The centers are distributed across various taluks: Mangaluru (21), Belthangady (8), Bantwal (6), Moodbidri (6), Puttur (5), Kadaba (5), Ullal (4), Sullia (2), and Mulki (2).
The Science stream has the highest enrollment with 18,559 students, followed by the Commerce stream with 15,054 students, and the Arts stream with 3,724 candidates. To ensure the smooth conduct of the exams, the district administration has mapped 16 routes for the secure transport of question papers, overseen by 16 teams of three-member committees. All centers have been verified for operational readiness, and necessary staff have been deployed. Furthermore, GPS-enabled vehicles and 24/7 CCTV surveillance at treasury locations have been arranged to maintain the confidentiality of examination materials.
Strict security measures will be in place for the exams scheduled from February 28 to March 17, 2026. A 200-meter radius around all 59 centers has been declared a prohibited zone. The Deputy Commissioner also confirmed that biometric attendance for all officials and staff under KSEA has been mandated. Additionally, MESCOM has been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the examination period to avoid any inconvenience to the students.
